Objectives

As also stated in its approved constitution, the objectives of CEST Nepal are to:

  1. Contribute to improve the awareness on tourism, culture and environment management.
  2. Contribute to develop community focused, cultural heritage-based and environment-friendly responsible tourism.
  3. Contribute to improve the livelihood of the community members by strengthening their capacity and skills to identify, develop, promote and manage sustainable tourism products/activities.
  4. Carry out study, research and surveys to generate and disseminate information on sustainable tourism, environment management cultural heritage conservation and tourism based jobs/livelihoods.
  5. Contribute to conserve bio biodiversity, natural landscape and eco-system so as to sustaining and enhancing the attractiveness of tourism destinations and promoting tourism as one of the viable tools for sustainable conservation financing.
  6. Contribute to conserve tangible and intangible cultural heritages so as to sustaining and enhancing the attractiveness of tourism destinations and promoting tourism as one of the viable tools for sustainable heritage conservation financing.
  7. Contribute to minimize the vulnerability of tourism destinations to the disasters and other pandemic events caused by various anthropogenic and natural factors, including climate change.
  8. Contribute to generate, manage and improve information and interpretation facilities at the tourist destinations.
  9. Contribute to improve the skills and capacity of the destination community, destination management organizations, tourism industry workers and stakeholders through capacity building programme, strategic planning and information.
  10. Contribute to foster coordination, partnership and collaboration for sustainable tourism development, cultural heritage conservation and environment management at various level.
  11. Carry out lobbing and advocacy activities for promoting people-centered and environment- friendly tourism policies, strategies and institutional frameworks.
